Our Mission

New Beginnings Therapy Services, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that desires to help people overcome emotional, relational, and spiritual struggles to find hope for abundant living. Through a learning and growing process, we aspire to help people enhance their relationship with God, their spouse, their family, themselves, and others. We strive to keep all our services consistent with the biblical principles, beliefs, and values of the Christian faith. These services focus on bringing healing to individuals, couples, and families with a variety of life stressors and issues.

New Beginnings is a non-denominational, independent center providing counsel to all people regardless of their faith background.  Therapy services are provided by appointment during the day and evening.

Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 TM

Nedra would first define herself as a follower or Christ, a wife, and a mother.  She is a caring family member and friend.  She is a counselor, and has been from her earliest days.  Nedra began helping others in high school as a peer counselor.  She graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Services Education and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies in 1996 after completing an internship in elementary guidance counseling.  During her time at Penn State, she was a peer counselor, a student assistant for a basic counseling skills course, and involved in the leadership of a campus church ministry.

Nedra married her husband, Burdette, the winter of 1996.  They both completed a Master of Science degree in Family Therapy from Friends University the spring of 2000.  Nedra interned during her graduate program at Solace house, a center for grieving children and their families, a perfect fit.  She is most drawn to the area of grief recovery and worked for an area hospice from 2013-2020 as a Bereavement Care Coordinator.

Nedra is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and has been at New Beginnings since it’s inception in the summer of 2001.  Nedra's desire is first and foremost to show others the love of Christ and to walk with them through their journey of healing.  She desires to help others to know Christ more fully, to find His grace and truth, and to heal from the pain and disappointment of the losses of life.

Nedra enjoys working with her husband, believing they are an asset to one another in this ministry, able to do more together than they could ever do apart.  She enjoys life immensely with Burdette and their adult sons, Nathan and Timothy, who are the jewels in her crown!  She has homeschooled both her children and is very proud of the young men they have become.  She enjoys writing, reading, amateur photography, creative projects, visiting with friends and family, traveling and encouraging others.  As a couple, the Lahrs enjoys kayaking, paddle boating, bike riding and exploring the wonders of God's creation together.
